如果是考试的话，特别是国内考试，空格是必不可少的，不论是书信体还是其他作文形式，这是英语考试中作文的基本规范。
但是，在正规的英文写作（公文）书写中，这样的空格缩进是不合乎规范的——
1. 英文的格式是一种惯例。分为齐头式blocked和缩进式indented。
2. 齐头式顾名思义不需要缩进，但是通常段与段之间空一行。
3. 缩进式一般在段首缩进5格英文半角空格，也就是1英寸inch，这一点可以用tab键快速实现，也可以使用段落缩进图标单击一次。缩进式有的习惯于第一段齐头，尤其是学术论文比较常见，仅限第一段这样，以后段落缩进5格空格或1英寸。
4. 句子中英文的标点后面要空一格，但段尾不需要，因为段尾是回车键。
5. 空格在英语行文中是有意义的，它是单词的边界，单词的切分依据。
6. 英文行文中的标点符号和空格的位置如何安排？标点符号+空格（段落结尾的标点符号后面不需要空格，因为这个时候用了回车键。
所以，空格只是考试写作的需要，以后的英文写作，特别是学术论文和公文，还要看具体的要求
